Over the past few years, JET has delivered a range of funded programmes designed to help people develop skills, improve confidence and move into employment, education and training.
Although these programmes have now come to an end, they made a lasting difference to the individuals and communities we support. We are proud of the impact they achieved and the partnerships that helped make them a success.
Wise Group - Relational Mentoring Programme with JET.
Programme now complete
JET partnered with The Wise Group and a range of local organisations to deliver the Relational Mentoring Programme across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Sunderland.
The programme supported economically inactive people aged 16 and over who faced multiple barriers to employment. Through personalised, one-to-one mentoring, participants received tailored support to improve their confidence, wellbeing and employability, helping them take positive steps towards work, education or training.
Support included:
- One-to-one mentoring and personalised action planning
- Health, wellbeing and confidence-building support
- Budgeting, housing and financial guidance
- CV writing, job searching and interview preparation
- Training and skills development, including specialist ESOL support delivered by JET
- Signposting to additional community services and opportunities
Delivered between July 2023 and March 2025, the programme helped participants build resilience, develop new skills and overcome barriers through a holistic, person-centred approach.
Funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Talent Pool and Pathways programme
Programme now complete
The Talent Pool and Pathways programme supported people who were ready to move into employment by providing tailored guidance, training and progression opportunities.
The programme helped participants prepare for work by offering intensive employability support and referrals to training aligned with local labour market needs.
While there was a particular focus on careers in childcare, construction, health and social care, and green jobs, support was available to anyone who was ready to take the next step towards employment, regardless of their chosen career path.
Through personalised advice and practical support, participants were able to develop their skills, increase their confidence and access opportunities that improved their prospects of securing sustainable employment.
The Talent Pool and Pathways programme was funded through the North of Tyne UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and led by Newcastle City Council.
