This is Mahmoud Vaghei. Mahmoud is originally from Iran, and now lives in the East End of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
He discovered JET upon seeing our leaflets at Newcastle College. He came along and had a chat with one of our Advice & Guidance workers. Back in Iran, Mahmoud had had an Electrical Engineering background, and had worked for a TV station. He had then gone on to own his own shop repairing computers. Unfortunately, Mahmoud had developed some health problems recently, which meant he couldn’t stand for too long, but he was still very keen to work in the field he was most skilled in.
His advisor looked at training options with him, and helped him to update his CV. Mahmoud, whilst attending ESOL classes, also enrolled on JET’s free ICT classes, which he said he found very useful.
His JET advisor sent Mahmoud’s CV to Easy Fix PC to see if a voluntary placement could be found. This was a success and now he is really enjoying his placement. Mahmoud recently told us, “I would recommend JET to anyone looking for work. The staff are always friendly and their help has been the best – they work hard and know what they are doing.”
Mahmoud also recommended 2 of his friends to visit JET, and both are now attending JET’s free courses.
Mahmoud’s voluntary placement has now lead to a paid position as an IT technician. He is also attending a Newcastle Futures PAT testing course, which will help Easy Fix PC further develop the service they provide to their customers. Mahmoud thanks JET for finding him suitable work which he really enjoys!
