Celebrating Success

JET are celebrating as they were shortlisted for an award at the North East Minority Ethnic Achievement Awards, which were held at Tall Trees Hotel in Yarm this month. These awards also take place in Scotland and the East and West Midlands and are to celebrate significant contribution made to the economic, social and cultural development across the region. Along with the Chinese Association (North East) and Race2Work in Middlesbrough, JET were nominated in the Employment and Training category. Although we did not win, we are none the less very proud of our achievements and know that this is testament to not only the work we are doing, but also to the commitment of the clients with which we work, who show dedication and determination in achieving their goals. Well done to all the winners and in particular Race2Work, who took the award in this category.

Shenene's Story

My name is Shenene. I have been working for Semi-Chem (part of the Scottish Co-Op) in Wallsend as a Sales Assistant since the end of July. My job involves till work, customer service and stock taking. The job has given me my sanity back – I have to have something to do and can’t stand sitting at home doing nothing. Unemployment is definitely not for me!

JET confirmed in my mind feelings I was having about employment and helped put me on the right track.

When I was job searching and using the IT facilities at JET I felt something positive would happen and here we are!
