ESOL For Jobs

This is a FREE course led by a trained ESOL Tutor in which job seekers can identify what different employers want, prepare a CV, complete application forms and prepare for job interviews, as well as develop the vocabulary around employment. Around 50% of our clients who complete the ESOL for Jobs course go on to secure paid employment.

 

ESOL for Jobs course outline:

  • Introductions, skills audit, barriers to employment and how to address them, understanding the local employment opportunities and matching skills, developing an initial career plan.
  • Where to find jobs, understanding the language of job adverts, reading job descriptions.
  • Layout and content of a CV, preparing a CV, standard letter layout, content of a covering letter, writing a covering letter.
  • Telephone skills, taking messages, calling employers, leaving messages, workplace communication skills.
  • Understanding the different types of job application form, completing forms, writing a personal statement.
  • Practice questions for interviews, how to present yourself at interview, interview practice.

The next ESOL For Jobs course will start Monday 25th February 2010. Monday to Thursday, 9:30am-12:30pm. For 8 weeks, excluding school holidays. Clients must have English to ESOL Entry Level 2c as a minimum. The course after starts on 18th April 2010.
