JET works with local, regional and national employers in breaking down barriers to facilitate the recruitment of members from disadvantaged communities. Some of the employers we have worked with are Nexus, Newcastle City Council, Northumbria Police, Harun Accountants, ASDA, Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue and Your Homes Newcastle, BBC, Barclays Bank, Home Group, Tyne & Wear Care Alliance, and IKEA.
We can support your organisation through:
We hold regular Employer Events where employers come in and talk about the area of work they specialise in. They discuss what different job roles there are, recruitment, how to apply for their vacancies when they arise, and what sort of skills potential employees would need to have. Employers have the benefit of being able to promote their organisation in the community.
Our Employer Events also provide the opportunity for clients to ask employers questions about exactly what they want to know, straight from the horse’s mouth.
The work culture for our clients is often very different in their country of origin compared to that in the UK, so it’s very useful to get an insight into work life here.
Voluntary placements arranged by JET in partnership with local employers can also result in permanent paid work. For example, Harun Accountants have been provided with volunteers by JET, some of which have gone on to secure paid permanent employment. See Success Story - Harun Accountants.
Volunteering opportunities
Volunteering is a superb way of using your spare time to learn new skills, improve your English and impress potential employers while applying for jobs. It can also help your confidence and can provide a sense of achievement and mental well-being, as well as providing work experience and good references in the UK.
We encourage our clients to take part in voluntary work for this reason while helping them to job search.
We can help you to find a voluntary job or placements with local employers; we have space occasionally for admin volunteers in our own JET office; and we also work closely with CSV and NCVS – who both specialise in voluntary opportunities. Success Story – Harun Accountancy
