Gurmeet came and registered with JET in July 2006. She was a widow originally from India, now living in the East End of Newcastle. Gurmeet was a regular at the Kiran women's Group, and a friend there told her about JET and their Outreach Adviser Brenda Johnston.

I started working as an Outreach Advice and Guidance worker at JET at the beginning of 2008. Before this I was working on the RISE project, which arranges work placements for refugees.
I have a degree in Maths and Physics, a Masters in Engineering and worked as a Control Engineer on Teesside for 7 years. I also spent 2 years living and working for VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) in Ethiopia where I worked as an HIV & AIDS Project Coordinator.
